Transcript Generator Tool Update
A minor bug fixes and improvements have been made to the Transcript Generator tool such as an issue on the title header in the PDF format.
Where To Use This Tool
This tool is designed for publishers who need to generate and download transcripts for personal study or for those who require a base transcript to create a more professional version. This tool simplifies the process, making it easy to generate transcripts for either purpose.
When creating a transcript, there are two options to choose from: Basic and Enhanced.
- The Basic Transcript layout applies minimal formatting, offering a clean and simple text format that is perfect for use as a base to create professional transcripts. It provides the raw transcript layout with no extra formatting or structural changes.
- The Enhanced Transcript layout goes a step further, incorporating additional formatting to improve readability and presentation. It provides a more structured format with better separation of content, making it ideal for those who want a simple yet easily readable transcript.
In addition, the tool also offers to create only a portion of the video transcript by specifying the media timestamps of the video. (start and/or end timestamps) This feature is useful when you only need a portion of the video transcript instead of the entire video transcript.
How to Use This Tool
Follow these basic steps to use this tool:
- Go to the Video Library on jw.org and select the video for which you want to generate a transcript.
- Paste the valid share link URL of the video into the input field.
- Optional: If you only need a portion of the transcript, enter the start and/or end timestamps of the video in the URL beginning with "&ts=".
- Choose between the Basic transcript or Enhanced transcript layout options.
- Click the Generate Transcript button to create your transcript. The tool will process and generate the transcript.
- Once the transcript is generated, you can download it in your preferred format: TXT or PDF.
- If you wish, you can also copy the transcript directly to your clipboard by clicking the Copy button.
Limitations Of This Tool
This tool may sometimes incorrectly indicate that the video URL does not have a transcript available, even though it is. This can occur if the parameter values provided in the URL do not yield a valid result. If this happens, you will need to locate the video in the Video Library and use the share feature from there.
This tool currently has limitations related to language support. The PDF file format is not available for all languages due to differences in writing systems. If the transcript language you selected does not have a PDF download option, it means that language is not supported.
Currently, the PDF file format is supported for the following writing systems:
- Cyrillic script
- Greek script
- Latin script
However, some languages or specific videos within these supported writing systems may still contain unsupported characters, which can also prevent the PDF download option. The TXT file format, however, is available for all languages. Additionally, Right-to-Left (RTL) languages may experience alignment issues on devices that do not fully support them.
