This add-on enhances your experience on JW websites with a suite of intuitive features designed to simplify your interaction with the website. Whether you're reading articles, watching videos, or searching for specific materials, this tool streamlines the process. Easily copy text, generate QR codes, customize subtitles, download transcripts, and more. With advanced media controls and search functions, this add-on enables you to engage with the website more efficiently, helping you stay productive.

Features

These are all the features currently offered by the add-on. Over time, more features will be added as needed.

    Search or open an article, media, or publication using document ID or universal mnemonic code.
  • Alt Text
    Show the descriptive text that explains the content of the image.
  • Audio Library Button
    Easily access the Audio Library right at the Video Library of the website.
  • Comment Transfer
    Easily transfer comments from the website's comment boxes to the Library app.
  • Copy Text
    Instantly copy the selected paragraph or Bible verse with a single click.
  • Custom Media Player UI
    Adjust the transparency of media player controls to reduce dimming or obstruction while watching videos.
  • Custom Subtitle
    Adjust the font size and style of subtitles to minimize distractions while watching videos.
  • Custom Table Style
    Adjust the styling of the table for a better view of the data.
  • Daily Text
    Access today's daily text and weekly meeting materials right in the Library webpage of the website.
  • Expand Width
    Expand the webpage to utilize the full width of the screen when viewing content.
  • Language Count
    View the number of languages in which the current content is accessible online.
  • Media Player Control Keys
    Easily control the media player with the use of keyboard keys.
  • Media Timestamp
    Create a link for the current media that includes a specific timestamp, with the option to copy it.
  • Online Citation
    View or copy the document ID of the article or the mnemonic code of the publication.
  • Paragraph Link
    Create a link for each selected paragraph or Bible verse, with the option to copy it.
  • Play Media in the App
    Play or continue watching or listening to the media from the website in the Library app.
  • QR Code
    Generate a QR code for the selected text or media timestamp, with the option to download it.
  • Read in the App
    Continue reading content from the website in the Library app or Online Library.
  • Video Transcript
    Download or copy a transcript of the spoken content from the video.

Each feature is controlled by the Root Control of the add-on, which can be accessed by clicking the add-on icon located on the navigation bar or a similar location in the browser. You can switch the features ON or OFF within this Root Control. Please note that some features have a toggle switch located at each individual website, which can be enabled or disabled if you prefer to temporarily enable or disable the feature. Turning OFF the feature in the Root Control will completely shut down the feature on all websites.

Download

This add-on is supported by most web browsers that allow the installation of website add-ons on both desktop computers and mobile devices. Click the download button for your corresponding web browser.

How to Use

Follow the instructions on how to use the features of the add-on. These instructions are also available in the Root Control.

Not all features are available on all websites or devices. Features that are not available on a particular website will not have a toggle option. Features that are not available on certain devices are turned OFF and cannot be turned ON.

Text

Advanced Search

  • To open an entire publication, type the mnemonic code in the search box and select the PUB option in the dropdown menu. (e.g., “lff“ or “rr“)
  • To open a specific online article or publication content, type the document ID in the search box and select the DOCID option in the dropdown menu. (e.g., “102018084“ or “502013393“)
  • To open a magazine or workbook, type the mnemonic code followed by the last two digits of the year. Press the space bar or enter a period, then enter the month in two digits. If the magazine or workbook includes a day, press the space bar, then type the month, a forward slash, and the day. Both the month and the day should be in two digits, and then select the PUB option in the dropdown menu. (e.g., “w24.01“ or “g98 01/22“)
  • To open a media item, type v. for video or a. for audio, followed by the mnemonic code. Press the space bar, then enter the item number if available. If the media contains a date, enter the mnemonic code, then press the space bar and enter the date in this form “YYYYMM“, then press the space bar again to enter the item number if available. Select the MEDIA option in the dropdown menu to open the media item. (e.g., “v.jwb-120 14“ or “a.osg 100“)
  • This is an advanced feature and is turned off by default. To enable it, open the Root Control, turn the toggle ON, and refresh the page. This feature requires publishers to be familiar with the organization's mnemonic arrangement.

Alt Text View

  • For jw.org®, click the Alt Text icon located at the bottom of every page beside the Appearance Settings button to enable or disable alt texts.
  • For the Online Library, click the hamburger menu at the bottom right corner of the content and select the Alt Text icon underneath the Font Size option.

Copy Text

  • Select a paragraph or Bible verse within an article or the Bible, then click the Copy icon.
  • Copying the text may include URL links or ruby text if available.

Custom Table Style

  • All tables on the website and the Online Library have been redesigned, and they now allow for vertical and horizontal scrolling of data.

Daily Text

  • Go to the Library tab of the website and click the button above the featured library content.

Expand Width

  • For jw.org®, click the Expand Width icon located at the bottom of every page beside the Appearance Settings button.
  • For the Online Library, click the hamburger menu at the bottom right corner of the content and select the Expand Width icon underneath the Font Size option.

Language Count

  • The total language count is displayed in every article and media item near the language picker.
  • Please note that the number of languages displayed corresponds only to where the article or media is available to be read or watched online. It does not include languages that are not available online. Additionally, the number of languages displayed for the article applies only to the article itself, not to any media within the article. To find out how many languages the media is available in, please visit the Video and Audio Libraries.

Online Citation

  • Citations, if available, are shown and can be copied by clicking the citation at the bottom of every article beside the Print and Share buttons.
  • Citations can be a document ID (DOCID), a publication's mnemonic, or a combination of both if available.
  • Grayed-out citations are provided by the website itself. Although they are not clickable, they can still be used by manually copying them.

Paragraph Link

  • Select a paragraph or Bible verse, then click the Link icon.
  • Choose from the available options in the dialog box, such as copying the link or continuing to read the article in the Library app or Online Library beginning from the selected text.

Read in the App

  • Click the Open Externally icon from the Download Links option of every publication.
  • Choose from the available options in the dialog box, such as copying the link or opening the entire article in the Library app or Online Library.

Media

Audio Library Button

  • The Audio button is located at the Videos homepage, adjacent or under the title depending on the size of the webpage.

Continue Watching

  • This feature is not yet available.

Custom Media Player UI

  • Click the Custom UI icon in the media player controls of the video beside the Settings icon to enable or disable the custom UI.

Custom Subtitles

  • Open the media player settings of the video, select the Subtitles option, and then click the Customize button.
  • Customized subtitles will apply to all videos in different languages within the website only. It will not apply to other websites, so you will need to set up a separate customization for those websites.

Image Download

  • This feature is not yet available.

Media Player Control Keys

  • Press the Space Bar to play or pause.
  • Press the Left or Right arrow keys to skip forward or backward.
  • Press the Up or Down arrow keys to adjust the volume.
  • If there are multiple media players in the article, it will only prioritize the first media player found.
  • This is an advanced feature and is turned off by default. To enable it, open the Root Control, turn the toggle ON, and refresh the page. This feature requires a keyboard and the content needs to be in focus. Additionally, it is not available for media players inside dialog boxes.

Media Timestamp

  • Click the Play with dot icon on the right side of the media player controls to quickly copy the the media timestamp link.
  • Double-click the icon to show more options such as copying the timestamp URL or continuing the media in the Library app beginning from where it left off.
  • This feature is only available for media content located in the Audio and Video Libraries.

Play Media in the App

  • Click the JW Library® button from the Media Item options between the Download and Share buttons to transfer the selected audio or video to the Library app.
  • All media content, including Sign Language videos, will open in JW Library® app. JW Library Sign Language® app is not supported.

Video Transcript

  • Click the Download button of the current video, then select the TXT or PDF option from the list to download the transcript file.
  • Select Copy if you prefer to copy the transcript without downloading it.
  • Transcript in PDF format is only available in English, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Both Media and Text

Download QR Code

  • Select a paragraph or Bible verse, then click the Link icon. For the media content, click the Play with dot icon.
  • Click the QR code image in the dialog box to download it as a PNG image file format.

Notes

If a feature similar to one in this add-on becomes officially provided by the website, you can then disable the corresponding feature using the Root Control in the add-on to avoid conflicts. The next update of the add-on will eventually remove the redundant feature.

The website used by this tool is subject to change. If changes to the website cause issues or conflicts with certain features of this add-on, you can temporarily disable that feature using the root control in the add-on until a new update is released with a fix.

Add-on Privacy and Security

No personal data is collected or required for this extension. It is designed only as a tool to enhance functionality, improve user experience, and provide customization options, requiring only minimal permissions to operate.

Some features of this add-on require you to accept the website's Privacy Policy to function correctly. This is because certain features, such as custom subtitles, custom media player UI, alt text, and others, need to remember your preferences. Without accepting the Privacy Policy, these features will not be able to remember your preferences and will not work as intended. This add-on will not override your privacy settings on the website; it will adhere to the policy you've set.
